DAYTON, Ohio -- In partnership with LION and the Dayton Fire Department, the Dayton Dragons are excited to host Dragons Fire Night presented by LION on Thursday, August 7, when the Dragons take on the Lake County Captains at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.

Dayton Dragons Fire Night presented by LION will spotlight Miami Valley firefighters in numerous ways from pre-game plaza activities to special in-game moments.

Activities on the plaza: LION will be on-site with fun giveaways and will showcase several firefighter PPE products, including a set of Dayton Fire Department turnouts that will be available to try on. Local fire departments will be showcasing a touch-a-truck setup including fire engines, a rescue boat, medic vehicles, and more. They will also have giveaways, fire prevention education, and more.

Pre-Game Ceremonies: The national anthem will be performed by Dayton Firefighter Price Dunlap. The national anthem will be accompanied by an American Sign Language interpreter. Dayton Police Department’s Honor Guard will present the colors.

Ceremonial first pitches will be thrown by Dayton Fire Department Chief Mike Rice as well as a relative of the late Roy “Tank” Colbrunn. Colbrunn served with numerous fire departments in a 35-year career, including the department at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

New Firefighter Recognition: A pre-game recognition will honor and thank some of the newest firefighters that have made the commitment and taken the oath to protect our communities. New members from Moraine, Piqua, and more will be in attendance representing some of the Miami Valley’s newest firefighters.

First Responder of the Game: An in-game recognition will take place to honor a Miami Valley firefighter that went above and beyond to protect and serve our community. This honoree is Firefighter Paramedic Matt Abel, who witnessed a man suffering a heart attack at a local event and took immediate lifesaving actions.

“LION is a fourth-generation family-owned business that has been present in the community for over 125 years, providing essential products and services to police and fire departments across the country and the world,” said Stephen Schwartz, CEO and Co-Owner of LION. “We are proud to serve the Dayton Fire Department and other Miami Valley firefighters/EMTs. Partnering with the Dayton Dragons allows LION to engage with our first responder customers in a fun, meaningful way, and help them receive the recognition and gratitude they deserve. We’re excited to see them at the ballpark!”
