The third time's the charm for the Greenville Drive on Thursday night when they took their first win of the series from a 6-2 outing. Jordan DiValerio took the win with 3 innings pitched and the Tourists’ Danny Cody suffered the loss after only one inning pitched when the Drive tagged him for five runs.

Neither team found the plate until a throwing error by Alex Erro in the top of the fifth inning found left field and sent Asheville’s C.J. Stubbs home after stealing third.

The Tourists’ lead did not last long. The tone for the Drive’s frame of the sixth inning was set when Iggy Suarez sent a streaking, helmet-flying Matthew Lugo home from first off an Alex Binelas double to left field. The runs kept coming after the Drive added two more to the Green Monster scoreboard with two bases-loaded walks. Joe Davis joined the party when Tyler Esplin put the ball in play and flew down the line to beat out the throw to first. Not to be forgotten, catcher Alex Erro tripled to deep center field, sending Nick Decker and Tyler Esplin home to punctuate the Drive’s crooked number inning. The home team’s bats finally found a winning rhythm.

Asheville didn’t go quietly. Deury Carrasco hit it out of the park to add one to the Tourists’ effort in the top of the eighth.

The Drive will look to even the series tomorrow night at 7:05.
