A sellout crowd of 8,913 witnessed the Colorado Springs Sky come back from multiple deficits and pull out a 9-8 victory over the Nashville Sounds on the Fourth of July.

On a night where the two teams combined for 17 runs and 24 hits in an offensive display, Nick Noonan provided the final blast, knocking in Kyle Wren in the bottom of the eighth inning for his 1,000th hit of his minor league career. After entering as a pinch-hitter in the sixth inning, Noonan lined the first pitch from Tucker Healy to right field for the game-winning RBI.
Nashville put together a 4-run first inning, but the Sky Sox (52-31) responded with three runs of their own during their first at-bats. Lewis Brinson opened the scoring, plating Mauricio Dubón on a RBI double down the third base line. Two batters later, Garrett Cooper launched home run No. 16 of the season over the batter's eye to score Brinson and cut the deficit to 4-3.
The Sounds scored another run in the second, but the Sox came back with a single run to keep the deficit at one run. With one out, Wren stole second base, forcing an errant pickoff attempt from Nashville starter Chris Jensen. Kirk Nieuwenhuis came in to score on the error, closing the gap to 5-4. Wren stole four bases Tuesday night, moving him into sixth place in franchise history and tying the single-game total set by Jeff Huson and Luis Sardiñas.
The hosts responded to a Nashville score once again in the fifth inning. Brett Phillips grounded a two-out single through the vacated shortstop hole, allowing Brinson to score. The right fielder is 7-for-16 in his last four games, including a three-hit night Monday in Omaha.
Colorado Springs broke through in the sixth inning, scoring three runs to take their first lead of the game. For the second straight home game, Brinson grounded a chopper down the third base line, scoring Wren and Dubon to give the Brewers' No. 1 prospect a 3-RBI game for the third straight game and fifth since June 26.
One batter later, Ivan De Jesus extended the lead, grounding a RBI double down the left field line to score Brinson. The league leader in batting average entering Tuesday extended his team-high hitting streak to 12 games with the double, and has recorded five two-baggers during his most recent hot stretch.
Tristan Archer (6-2, 3.57) earned the win in the wild affair, retiring all five batters faced in 1 2/3 relief innings. Forrest Snow provided the Sox with 4 1/3 solid relief innings in the middle of the game, allowing two runs and striking out three Sounds.
The Sky Sox and Sounds continue their four-game series in three days Wednesday afternoon, with a doubleheader beginning at 4:30 p.m. MT. RHP Taylor Jungmann (4-1, 1.53) takes the mound in game one for the Sox, while RHP Tim Dillard (2-1, 5.44) is slated to start the twinbill night cap, a game which was rained out April 25 in Colorado Springs. Wednesday night is another ARC Community Ticket Day, where fans can pick up complimentary ticket vouchers from any of the four ARC Thrift Store locations in Colorado Springs.
