GREENSBORO, N.C. GREENSBORO, N.C. (Aug. 6, 2017) - Intimidators reliever Jake Elliott worked 3.0 scoreless innings to close the game, but the Intimidators offense struggled in a 7-0 loss to the Grasshoppers on Sunday afternoon at First National Bank Field in Greensboro. Kannapolis (19-24 Second Half, 58-53) suffered its second shutout loss of the 4-game series and 10th of the season.  
Greensboro scored three in the second and two in the third to chase Kannapolis starting pitcher Yosmer Solorzano from the game. Rony Cabrera drove in two runs with a triple in the second inning, and Eric Gutierrez hit a 2-run home run (4) in the third to effectively end Solorzano's outing.
Lane Hobbs tossed 3.0 innings, recording three outs in the third and working through the fifth, allowing two run on two hits and two walks as the Grasshoppers extended their lead to 7-0. Elliott, who rejoined the Intimidators before the game from the Winston-Salem Dash, worked around four hits and a walk while striking out three over 3.0 innings.  
Solorzano (3-9) took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits, walking three and striking out two over 2.0 innings, including facing the first three batters of the third inning.  
Kolton Mahoney (4-5) tossed 4 and 1/3 scoreless relief innings for Greensboro to earn the win, picking up where starter Ethan Clark left off. Clark opened with 3 and 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out five and walking three. Nestor Bautista pitched the final frame for the Hoppers.  
The Intimidators open a 7-game home stand on Monday starting with a 3-game series against the Greenville Drive. Kannapolis sends LHP Andre Davis (6-4, 4.52 ERA) to the mound against Greenville's LHP Jay Groome (2-4, 7.90 ERA) on Monday at 7:05 p.m. Monday's game is a Belly Buster Monday where single-game tickets include all-you-can-eat wristbands.
