Erie Ends Losing Streak with 11-10 Win

The Erie SeaWolves' (19-33) losing streak came to a climactic end Tuesday. Kody Eaves' sac fly to center in the 9th elevated the 'Wolves to an 11-10 victory over Binghamton.
The game was an offensive showdown from the start. Binghamton laced two runs in the first inning off of Erie starter Kyle Funkhouser on RBI doubles from Levi Michael and Tomás Nido.
Matt Oberste's solo blast in the second propelled the Rumble Ponies to an early 3-0 lead.
With one out in the bottom of the second, Erie DH Dominic Ficociello drove a ball into left off of Joseph Shaw thart exited the field. The solo bomb cut the Binghamton lead down to 3-1.
The Erie bats catalyzed in the third inning. Shaw walked Montgomery and Woodrow, giving A.J. Simcox a chance to bring Montgomery in on an RBI single. Will Maddox cracked an RBI double into left-center to score Woodrow to tie the ball game. Now with two outs and two men on, Dominic Ficociello smacked a three-run home run into left for his first multi-home run game of the season.The five run bottom of the third gave Erie the 6-3 lead. 
Binghamton fought back behind a three-run jack from Joey Wong into right to tie the ball game at 6-6 in the top of the fourth.
Jake Robson led the bottom of the fourth off with a bang. The Erie right fielder went opposite field on his fourth home run of the year to give Erie the 7-6 lead.
Robson matched his efforts from the fourth inning to lead off the sixth inning. The outfielder smoked a long ball into center, giving him his second home run on Shaw to improve the SeaWolves lead at 8-6.
The Rumble Ponies began to climb back in the eighth off of Erie reliever Drew Carlton. Jeff McNiel's RBI single to send Levi Michael home cut the Erie lead down to 8-7.
Ficociello's third of four hits in the ballgame came in the seventh inning to bring in his fifth RBI of the day. Kody Eaves fly ball into center was enough to bring Josh Lester to home plate to give Erie the 10-7 lead.
Binghamton climbed back once again in the eighth inning. John Mora's triple scored Nido, and Tim Tebow drifted a ball into left to score Mora on a sacrifice. The SeaWolves did not score in the home half of the eighth, sending the game into the ninth with an 10-9 Erie lead.
The Rumble Ponies kept the bats going late in the game. John Mora sacrifice to center tied the game at 10-10 off of Mark Ecker.
The SeaWolves started the bottom of the ninth off right on Adonis Uceta. Lester and Ficociello both poked balls into right for singles, putting Lester at third with no outs. Kody Eaves cranked a fly ball into center, and John Mora could not throw out Lester who came in to score.
Ecker (3-4) blew the save but picked up his third win on the season for Erie. The SeaWolves handed Uceta (0-1) his first loss after he surrendered one run in two innings. Funkhouser struck out seven through six innings and allowed six earned runs in the no-decision.
The SeaWolves end their losing streak at nine games and hit the road to Canal Park, where they play the Akron RubberDucks at 7:05 PM.
