FROM MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL
"In light of the current coronavirus outbreak, and after consultation with medical professionals and our partners at Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball will delay the start of the 2020 Championship Season. We will continue to monitor the developments and will announce additional information about the 2020 season at a later date. We will work with Major League Baseball and our community partners to resume play as soon as it is safe to do so. The health and safety of Minor League Baseball fans, players and executives is our top priority, and our thoughts are with those around the world who have been affected by this outbreak."
FROM THE ERIE SEAWOLVES
"In accordance with Minor League Baseball's announcement regarding the upcoming season, the Erie SeaWolves season, originally scheduled to begin on April 9 at Altoona, has been delayed. It is unclear if that delay will impact Opening Night, presented by Plyler Entry Systems, on Thursday, April 16 at UPMC Park. We have been closely monitoring the situation regarding the current coronavirus outbreak and the SeaWolves will be following any guidelines as set forth by Minor League Baseball. The situation continues to be fluid, however, the safety of our fans, players and employees remains our top priority as we prepare for the 2020 season. We will continue to inform fans and team partners as more information becomes available."
REGARDING THE SEAWOLVES UPCOMING NATIONAL ANTHEM, PA ANNOUNCER AND EMCEE AUDITIONS
Erie SeaWolves National Anthem, public address announcer and on-field emcee auditions that were originally scheduled for this Saturday, March 14, at the Millcreek Mall have been cancelled.
Those wishing to try out for the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at a SeaWolves game in 2020 are asked to submit a video to the official team Facebook page (Facebook.com/SeaWolvesFans). Singers will perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" a cappella (without music) and must complete their audition within a 90-second time frame. Solo performances and ensemble auditions are encouraged. There is no age requirement, but performers must be comfortable singing in a stadium environment.
Those wishing to try out for public address announcer or on-field emcee may set an appointment with SeaWolves Director of Entertainment, Dave Micik. Appointments can be set by calling 814-456-1300 x 204 or via email [email protected].
