The top of the Helena batting order broke out and Ogden's defense struggled Monday night, dropping the Raptors to their first loss against the Brewers in 2017, 8-5, after two straight wins.
The visiting Brewers went on top in the third on a three-run Chad McClanahan home run, the first of his three hits, but Ogden tied the score with three-straight run-scoring singles in the bottom half of the inning.
Helena scored three times in the fifth to go ahead for good. Dallas Carroll doubled ahead of a McClanahan single. McClanahan stole second and took third when the throw skipped into center. With two out, Jay Feliciano walked and tried to steal second. The throw was in time but dropped, and the next hitter reached on an error by the shortstop before a throw to third went awry to score two additional runs.
Starling Heredia led off with a double in the fifth and later came home on a Romer Cuadrado sacrifice fly to get a run back, but Raptors pitching walked in a run in the sixth.
In the eighth, Moises Perez reached on an error, and he scored two batters later on a double play. Ogden trailed by three entering the ninth and threatened, with Cuadrado hitting a two-out double to score Connor Heady, but the game ended with the potential tying run standing on first base.
The final game of the homestand is scheduled for Tuesday night at 7:00. It's another Taco Tuesday, featuring $1 tacos all night long while they last!
