FRISCO, Texas (September 9, 2023) – Former Frisco RoughRiders outfielder Evan Carter made his MLB debut with the Texas Rangers on Friday, Sept. 8th, going 1-for-3 at the plate with a walk while starting in right field.

Batting ninth in the series opener in Arlington against the Oakland Athletics, Carter singled to right field in his first plate appearance. He stole second base that inning and added a walk in the eighth inning. The 21-year-old also had an outfield assist in the Rangers' 6-3 loss.

A second-round selection in 2020 by the Rangers out of Elizabethton High School in Elizabethton, Tennessee, Carter spent the last week of 2022 and the playoffs with Frisco before beginning the 2023 season with the RoughRiders. During the 2022 season, he won the Tom Grieve Texas Rangers Minor League Player of the Year award, batting .295/.397/.489/.886 with 21 doubles, 10 triples, 12 home runs and 28 steals over 106 games.

In 97 games with the RoughRiders in 2023, Carter hit .284/.411/.451/.862 with 15 doubles, six triples, 12 home runs, 62 runs, 74 walks, 68 runs scored and 22 steals. When he was promoted to Triple-A Round Rock, Carter was second in the Texas League in walks (74) and on-base percentage (.411) while he was sixth in OPS (.862).

In eight Triple-A games, Carter hit .353/.436/.382/.818 with a double and three RBIs.

The RoughRiders have two home games remaining in the regular season, both against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals this weekend. At 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9th, RHP Nick Krauth (4-10, 5.80 ERA) gets the ball for Frisco, while the Naturals turn to RHP Beck Way (2-8, 6.59 ERA).

Not only can kids run the bases postgame on Saturday, presented by Raising Cane’s, but the Riders will host the second drone show on three-straight nights.
