COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - The Round Rock Express (45-51) collected their first win of the series on Wednesday night at Security Service Field, topping the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (53-42) in extra innings by a score of 10-8.
Round Rock CF Drew Robinson had a massive day at the plate, going 4-5 with two triples and home run while racking up three RBI. After C Juan Centeno 's RBI single broke the 7-7 tie in the 10th, Robinson ripped his second three-bagger of the night to clear the bases and add two more runs to extend Round Rock's newfound lead to 10-7.
After Centeno and Robinson put the E-Train in front in the top half of the 10th, Round Rock reliever LHP Brady Feigl secured his first save of the year, allowing just one run to score on a groundout to seal the 10-8 Express win.
Trailing 7-4 in the bottom of the ninth, the Sky Sox rallied for three runs with two outs to knot the score at 7-7 and send the game to extras. With Round Rock reliever RHP R.J. Alvarez (3-1, 3.41) gunning for his 19th save of the year, Colorado Springs utilized a two-run double by C Christian Bethancourt and an RBI single by LF Dylan Moore .
While Alvarez was knocked with the blown save, he did take home the win after his offense took the lead in extras. Sky Sox reliever RHP Jorge López (3-3, 5.20) was saddled with the loss after he surrendered all three Express runs in extra innings, although only two were earned.
He may not have factored into the decision, but Round Rock starter LHP Michael Roth put forth a valiant effort in his 6.0-inning outing. After he was roughed up for a pair of runs in the fourth, Roth went on to hold Colorado Springs' hitters to two runs on seven hits and a walk over his next 5.0 frames on the mound.
While Robinson finished the contest a double short of the cycle, Express RF Hunter Cole was just a triple shy of a cycle himself, collecting a double and a home run over the course of a 3-5 showing at the plate.
Round Rock will look to tie the series at two wins apiece in game four on Thursday night at Security Service Field. Express RHP Adrian Sampson (4-3, 4.95) is slated to duel Sky Sox RHP Paolo Espino (3-2, 3.38) on the mound. First pitch is set for 7:40 p.m. CDT.
