Express OF Zach Reks Named Pacific Coast League Player of the Week

ROUND ROCK, Texas – Round Rock Express OF Zach Reks was named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for May 23-29 as announced by Minor League Baseball on Tuesday afternoon. Reks is the second Round Rock player to receive Player of the Week honors in 2022. INF Ryan Dorow received the award May 3-9.

In five games played last week, Reks went 11-for-20 while slashing .550/.591/1.250. He had two doubles, four home runs and nine RBI. Reks also walked twice and struck out only four times.

On Wednesday, May 25 against Albuquerque, Reks grabbed his first three-hit game of the week. He went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored.

On Sunday, May 29, Reks posted his first multi-homer game of the year. He went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with five RBI, two home runs and a double.

The Chicago, Illinois native was promoted to the Texas Rangers on Monday afternoon and appeared in the starting lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays. It’s the second time Reks has been called-up to Texas. He was promoted from April 30-May 11 before returning to Round Rock.

In 25 games this season for Round Rock, Reks is hitting .337 (30-89) with nine doubles, five home runs and 18 RBI. He also has 11 walks. Reks played an important role in the great month of May for the Round Rock offense. Entering the final day of the month, the Express offense leads the PCL in hits (268) and batting average (.295).

Round Rock returns to Dell Diamond on Wednesday, June 1 for game two of the six-game series with the Oklahoma City Dodgers (Los Angeles). Round Rock RHP Spencer Howard (0-1, 6.28) is scheduled to start against Oklahoma City RHP Andre Jackson (0-3, 7.36). First pitch at Dell Diamond is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT.
