Fire Frogs Throttle Threshers in Twin Bill Sweep, 3-2 and 5-0

CLEARWATER, FLA.: After a total washout on Friday evening suspended the series by a day, the Florida Fire Frogs came out for the second straight time in Clearwater and swept a Saturday evening double header, 3-2 and 5-0, from the Threshers to claim a series victory in front of 5,349 at Spectrum Field.

The Fire Frogs outhit the Threshers 24-7 in a double dip that was completed in just 4:10 from start to finish. The Fire Frogs outhit the Threshers 13-4 in game one and 11-3 in game two.
Florida is now 7-1 in the second half against Clearwater and has held them without a run in five of those victories.
Riley Delgado swatted 5-8 at the dish in the double header and continues to lead the FSL with 133 hits.
Game 1: The Threshers were able to grab an early tally against RHP Freddy Tarnok in the second. Matt Vierling reached on an error from Drew Lugbauer, stole a base, and moved to third on a groundout. He would cross the plate on an RBI knock from Nick Matera to give Clearwater a 1-0 lead.
Back-to-back singles from Garrison Schwartz and Rusber Estrada helped the Fire Frogs tie the game in the fifth against RHP Kyle Glogoski. After Shean Michel bunted them over to second and third, Brett Langhorne delivered with a sacrifice fly to plate Schwartz and tie the game at 1.
In his first game back since being activated from the Injured List, Estrada went 2-3 to notch his fourth multi-hit effort.
Glogoski didn't factor in the decision for the Threshers, scattering seven hits and an earned run over five innings.
Simon Muzziotti reached base all three times in game one. His bunt single in the fifth brought in Raul Rivas for a 2-1 Clearwater margin.
Andy Wilkins doubled off the wall in right-center to start a sixth-inning rally against LHP Zach Warren. Pinch-running Kevin Josephina scored the tying run on a single from Jefrey Ramos which evened the game at 2.
Wilkins had two hits before he was pinch ran for in the sixth. Ramos was 2-3 with an RBI to advance his hitting streak to six consecutive games.
Consecutive knocks from Estrada and Michel set up Langhorne for the winning base hit in the seventh versus Warren; 3-2 Florida.
Warren (1-3) gave up six hits and two earned runs across six outs to take the loss.
Tarnok (3-7) bounced back from consecutive losses with a strong outing in game one. He picked up his fourth Advanced-A quality start by firing six innings of four-hit baseball, permitting just one earned run, two walks, and racking up five Ks for his third win of the season.
RHP Caleb Dirks turned in a stress-free, scoreless seventh to record his first save with the Frogs.
Game 2: RHP Matt Hartman (3-6) became the first Florida pitcher to complete back-to-back starts. He willed the Fire Frogs to their 16th shutout win by tossing the entire seven-inning game, allowing just three hits and a free pass with five strikeouts mixed in. He has yielded just four earned runs over his last 29 innings pitched.
The offense backed him up with a four-run second to take control of the contest early. Consecutive singles from Lugbauer and Logan Brown enabled Josephina to drive in Lugbauer with a knock of his own for the lead. After a bunt from Schwartz moved Brown and Josephina up a base, Jordan Rodgers tanked his fourth home run of the year into the bullpen beyond the left field fence, making it a 4-0 Fire Frogs edge.
Langhorne drove in his third RBI of the double header with a base hit off RHP Jack Perkins in the fourth to finish off his second assignment of the day, 2-4, and cap the scoring at 5-0.
Rodgers singled in the fourth to finish game two 2-3. Schwartz and Lugbauer had hits in both contests.
Perkins (0-3) was saddled with the loss, surrendering five earned runs and nine hits in five frames of work. RHP Michael Gomez twirled two shutout frames to keep the score 5-0 in favor of the Fire Frogs.
Daniel Brito turned in the only multi-hit game for the Threshers by swinging 2-3. Rafael Marchan climbed aboard twice.  
NEXT UP: Now that the Fire Frogs have captured a series victory, RHP Brooks Wilson (4-2, 2.08) hopes to bring out the brooms on Sunday afternoon. He will be opposed on the mound by LHP Ethan Lindow (0-1, 1.80). First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
