MANCHESTER, N.H — The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, lost to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Thursday night, falling 8-2 at Delta Dental Stadium and trail the series two games to one.

Starting pitcher Sem Robberse (0-3) threw five innings, allowing four hits, three runs and two walks while striking out five, receiving the loss. The 21-year old Netherlands right hander has now struck out 40 batters in 37.2 innings this season but is still looking for his first Double-A win.

Sebastian Espino collected another two hits, including an RBI single in the ninth, in the losing effort. He has now collected a hit in eight of 11 games played in the month of May.

Karl Ellison collected his first New Hampshire (18-17) hit of the season in his first Fisher Cats home start of the year.

Steward Berroa’s eight game hit streak came to an end but he extended his on-base streak to nine consecutive games with a walk in the eighth.

Right-hander Connor Cooke struck out two in one inning of relief in the ninth in his Double-A debut after coming in from High-A Vancouver on Tuesday.

Binghamton starter and Wellesley native Mike Vasil (1-1) threw seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out five, picking up his first win of the season.

Matt Rudick also drove in a game-high four RBI for Binghamton (16-18), including a three-run home run in the second.

The Fisher Cats continue the home stand against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies tomorrow at 6:35 pm. RHP Chad Dallas (0-0, -.-- ERA) will make his Double-A debut and get the start for New Hampshire against RHP Jose Chacin (0-1, 6.00 ERA) for Binghamton.
