MANCHESTER, NH. (April 11, 2023) — The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, were defeated by the Portland Sea Dogs 9-7 at Delta Dental Stadium Tuesday night, dropping their first game of the 2023 season.

Luis De Los Santos continued his strong start to the season. The third baseman drove in two more runs to increase his team lead to eight RBIs on the season. All five of De Los Santos’s hits so far have scored Fisher Cats runners and four of De Los Santos’s five hits have gone for extra bases, including his RBI double in the 5th. His RBI single in the 8th also drove in Martinez from third.

A Leo Jimenez RBI double in the 9th pulled New Hampshire within two runs with two outs in the 9th. The Fisher Cats (3-1) had the winning runs on second and first with Damiano Palmegiani at the plate, but Palmegiani flew out to right to end the game.

Steward Berroa picked up his first RBIs of the season with a sac-fly in the 3rd and a solo home run in the 8th down the right-field line. The outfielder’s last multi-RBI performance for the Fisher Cats was on April 12, 2022 against Hartford.

Matthew Lugo led Sea Dogs (4-0) hitters with a game-high four RBIs, hitting a two-run single in the 3rd and a two-run double in the 5th. Left-hander Rio Gomez (1-0) struck out six out of seven Fisher Cats batters faced in a perfect 2.1 innings from the 2nd to the 3rd.

The Fisher Cats continue the six-game homestand against Portland Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. RHP Sem Robberse (0-0, 1.93 ERA) is scheduled to start against RHP Sterling Sharp (0-0, -.-- ERA) for the Sea Dogs.
