Fisher Cats fall on walk-off home run to Sea Dogs

PORTLAND, M.E — The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, lost to the Portland Sea Dogs 6-4 in walk-off fashion on Tuesday night from Hadlock Field in the series opener.

The Fisher Cats held a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth but a five-run inning for the Sea Dogs gave them a come from behind victory in the end. Down to his final strike, Stephen Scott drove in the winning runs with a three-run walk-off home run off Troy Watson (1-2), his second home run of the game.

Damiano Palmegiani recorded a game-high two RBIs for New Hampshire (20-19), tying the game in the sixth with a sac fly and extending the lead 3-1 in the eighth with a fielder’s choice grounder to third.

Orelvis Martinez drove in his 30th RBI of the season with a single in the eighth, bringing home Palmegiani. He is currently one of three Eastern League hitters to reach the 30 RBI mark so far this season.

New Hampshire collected only two hits in the entire game but drew nine walks against Portland (27-13) pitching.

Starting pitcher Adam Kloffenstein threw six strong innings, allowing only one run on six hits and two walks while striking out five. The 22-year old right hander lowered his ERA to 2.20, which is fifth best in the Eastern League. He is also second in the Eastern League in strikeouts with 51.

The Fisher Cats continue their six-game road trip against the Portland Sea Dogs tomorrow at 6:00 pm. RHP Sem Robberse (0-3, 5.02 ERA) will get the start for New Hampshire against RHP Grant Gambrell (0-0, 1.50 ERA) for Portland.

The next home stand for the Fisher Cats begins Tuesday, May 30 against the Reading Fightin’ Phils.
