Fisher Cats Outslugged in Series Opening Loss

BRIDGEWATER, N.J— The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, were outslugged on Tuesday night, losing to the Somerset Patriots 17-9 at TD Bank Ballpark.

The Fisher Cats put up six runs in the fourth inning starting with a Luis De Los Santos RBI double to increase his RBI team lead to nine.

Miguel Hiraldo smashed his first home run of the season just over the outstretched glove of the Somerset center fielder Everson Pereira to give New Hampshire a 4-3 lead. It was his first Double-A home run of his career.

Damiano Palmegiani’s RBI single extended the lead to 7-3 in the top of the fourth. Palmegiani reached base three times in the game to increase his on-base streak to nine games.

In the seventh, Yankees No. 2 prospect Jasson Dominguez tied the score 7-7 with a two-run home run off Adrian Hernandez. Anthony Seigler followed with a two-run single to give Somerset a 9-7 advantage after the seventh.

Steward Berroa tied up the score in the eighth with a two-run double down the right field line to make it 9-9. He now has six RBIs on the season after picking up only five RBIs all year last season in New Hampshire.

In the eighth, Somerset (6-4) scored eight in the inning, including a grand slam from TJ Rumfield, to put the game out of reach for New Hampshire (5-5).

In his first Double-A start since being activated off the development list on Sunday, Dylan Rock notched his first Double-A RBI with a sac-fly in the second and his first Double-A hit with a single in the fourth.

The Fisher Cats continue their road trip tomorrow night against Somerset. Blue Jays No. 1 prospect LHP Ricky Tiedemann (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will get the start for New Hampshire against RHP Richard Fitts (0-1, 8.31 ERA) for the Patriots.
