Fisher Cats shut out in series opener to Harrisburg

MANCHESTER, N.H — The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, lost their fifth straight to the Harrisburg Senators 4-0 at Delta Dental Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

On the mound, Paxton Schultz (0-3) got the start for New Hampshire and struck out four in five innings of work, allowing four hits, four runs and four walks, receiving the loss. It is the second time this year where Schultz has gone five innings on the mound.

New Hampshire (9-12) collected only four hits in the game and stranded six on the bases.

Steward Berroa extended his on-base streak to twelve games with a bunt single in the fifth while Leo Jimenez extended his on-base streak to eleven games with a base hit in the first.

Damiano Palmegiani reached base for a 17th time in 19 games played with a walk in the first.

Right-hander Hagen Danner made his 2023 Fisher Cats debut after rehabbing in Dunedin and threw a scoreless ninth inning, including a strikeout.

Harrisburg (10-11) starting pitcher Jackson Rutledge (2-1) dealt six shutout innings, striking out seven over two walks, earning the win.

The Fisher Cats play a doubleheader tomorrow against Harrisburg with the first game beginning at 4:05 pm and the second game to follow approximately 30 minutes after. Both games will be seven innings each. LHP Ricky Tiedemann (0-0, 5.00 ERA) will get the start for New Hampshire against LHP Mitchell Parker (0-2, 7.98 ERA) for Harrisburg in the first game. LHP Jimmy Robbins (1-3, 3.93 ERA) will get the start for New Hampshire in the second game against a pitcher to be determined for Harrisburg.
