Fisher Cats win series opener at Hartford

Dallas deals as New Hampshire scores seven in two innings

HARTFORD, C.T — The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, opened the series with a 7-3 victory over the Hartford Yard Goats on Tuesday night from Dunkin’ Park.

Starting right-hander Chad Dallas (5-1) made his 13th Double-A start and his third against Hartford this season. The 23-year-old threw five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and three walks with five strikeouts to pick up the win. In his last three starts, Dallas has a 1.06 ERA over his last 17 innings pitched.

New Hampshire (15-22, 50-55) scored three runs in the fifth inning on a sac fly by Steward Berroa, a RBI single by Leo Jimenez and another RBI single by Miguel Hiraldo. Hiraldo collected three hits on the night and has now driven in 11 RBI in his last five games. Jimenez collected a pair of RBIs, his ninth multi-RBI game of the season.

The Fisher Cats added four more runs in the sixth inning on just one hit after two runs came to score on two Hartford (18-20, 47-58) errors, a sac fly by Jimenez and an RBI groundout by Michael Turconi, his first Double-A RBI.

Out of the bullpen, Trevor Clifton threw 2.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts while Juan Nunez threw a 1-2-3 ninth with a strikeout.

The Fisher Cats continue their road trip against the Hartford Yard Goats tomorrow night at 7:10 pm. RHP Luis Quinones (4-2, 4.24 ERA) will get the start for New Hampshire against RHP Connor Van Scoyoc (1-1, 11.48 ERA).
