SALISBURY, Md. (June 9, 2017) - Jameson Fisher put together the first 5-hit game by an Intimidators player in five seasons, but it wasn't enough as Delmarva rallied in the eighth inning to beat Kannapolis, 10-8, on Friday at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Fisher finished 5-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored to lead an Intimidators offense that produced 14 hits.
Kannapolis (31-27) trailed most of the game before scoring three in the top of the eighth to reclaim the lead, 8-6, but Gerrion Grim hit a go-ahead grand slam - his second home run of the game - as Delmarva scored four in the home half of the inning to put the game away.
Tyler Erwin (1-1) earned the win as the Shorebirds pitcher of record with one-third of an inning worked in the top of the eighth inning, and Kevin Escorcia (2-3) took the loss, giving up four runs on one hits and two walks in one frame of work. Steven Kimek tossed a perfect ninth for the save (2).
Fisher began his career night with a bang, launching a solo home run (3) with one out in the first inning for a quick 1-0 lead. In the third, he drove in Grant Massey on a base hit to right field for a 2-0 lead. Fisher finished his night with singles to lead off the sixth, on a bunt-hit to reach base in the seventh, and an RBI base-knock in the eighth. The White Sox fourth round pick in the June 2016 First-Year Player Draft, Fisher is the first Intimidators player with five hits in a game since April 12, 2012, when Keenyn Walker went 5-for-5 at Lexington.
Delmarva overcame a 2-0 deficit with five runs in the third highlighted by Gerrion Grim's first of two home runs. Frank Crinella's bases-clearing double put the Shorebirds ahead, 3-2, and Grim's blast off Yosmer Solorzano stretched the lead to 5-2.
Micker Adolfo belted a 2-run home run (5) in the sixth as part of a 3-run inning, and Kannapolis added three more in the eighth with run-scoring hits from Seby Zavala, Joel Booker, and Fisher.
In the bottom of the eighth, Escorcia loaded the bases without surrendering a hit - walking two and plunking one - before giving up Grim's slam.
Kannapolis continues this 4-game series on Saturday at 6:35 p.m. in Salisbury, Md., as RHP Alec Hansen (5-3, 2.82 ERA) takes the mound for the Intimidators against Shorebirds RHP Matthias Dietz (0-4, 5.13 ERA). The Intimidators return to Kannapolis for a 6-day home stand June 13-18 against the Hagerstown Suns and West Virginia Power. The home stand features the second annual Disney Vacation Giveaway Night on Saturday, June 17, where one lucky fan will win a $2,500 vacation to the Magic Kingdom.
