Five 2026 Dust Devils to Play in Arizona Fall League

PASCO – Five players who played either all or some of the 2026 season with the Tri-City Dust Devils will play in the Arizona Fall League, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday. Pitchers Peyton Olejnik, Sam Tookoian and Yeferson Vargas, as well as infielders Jake Munroe and Ryland Zaborowski, will form part of the roster of the Mesa Solar Sox, one of six teams in the fall prospect league staged in Arizona.

Olejnik ended up Mr. Reliable on the 2026 staff, not missing a single start throughout the year. The 6’11” right-hander from Cedar Lake, Indiana won Northwest League Pitcher of the Month honors for June, going 2-0 with a 1.99 ERA in four starts. Olejnik gave up five runs in the month, striking out 24 and holding NWL hitters to a .199 batting average. He also won the league’s Pitcher of the Week award for July 7-12 by throwing five scoreless innings and striking out a career-high ten batters.

Tookoian served as the primary closer for manager Dann Bilardello’s team, building on an outstanding beginning to his pro career in 2025 in which he made seven scoreless appearances with three saves. The Ole Miss baseball alum led the Northwest League in saves (15) and also had a great June, allowing only one unearned run in ten outings and picking up one-third (5) of his saves for the year. The big righty also kept teams in the ballpark, allowing only two home runs in 43.2 innings on the mound.

Vargas had an up-and-down season for the Dust Devils, winning back-to-back starts in April including a seven-inning scoreless performance April 19 v. Hillsboro. After struggling in May and stepping away due to a family emergency, the righty had some tough luck in June and July in losing three games in which he went at least five innings and gave up two runs or fewer. The native of San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic finished the year strongly, throwing three scoreless innings in winning the season finale September 6.

Munroe served as the starting third baseman for Tri-City in the First Half of 2026, hitting 11 home runs and 15 doubles in 56 games for the club. Hailing from Champaign, Illinois, the infielder showed a deft bat at the plate by adding 15 doubles to his record, making it so over half his hits were extra-base hits (26 of 50). He also drew 33 walks, holding a .391 on-base percentage at the time of his promotion to Double-A Rocket City. There Munroe went on a 38-game on-base streak in helping the Trash Pandas to a Southern League North Division Second Half title.

Zaborowski only got in ten games for the Dust Devils but showed off his prodigious power early in his time in the Tri-Cities, blasting a high and deep home run to left and out of Gesa Stadium in his second game with the club. The slugger and Georgia baseball alum hit 14 home runs in 55 games between Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Tri-City, continuing his light tower power show throughout the 2026 campaign. He’ll look to bring the show back to Arizona, where he began the season in the Arizona Complex League.
