PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (June 10, 2018) - The Charlotte Stone Crabs used a five-run fifth inning to beat the Clearwater Threshers 5-3 Sunday afternoon at Charlotte Sports Park.
Trailing 1-0 entering the inning, the Stone Crabs (28-31) got a single from Zac Law to start the frame. After he stole second, Miles Mastrobuoni drove him in with a base hit to right to tie the game. After a walk put runners at first and second, Tristan Gray pulled a two-run double over the first base bag to extend the Charlotte lead to 3-1. Robbie Tenerowicz then lined a single into right to make it 4-1, before eventually coming home on a double steal to cap the inning at 5-1.
Clearwater (27-34) reliever Blake Quinn allowed all five runs to score after starter Felix Paulino went four scoreless.
Charlotte starter Brock Burke (2-5) tied his season high with 6.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out six.
Zack Mozingo and Ivan Pelaez combined to go 2.1 shutout innings in relief. Pelaez earned his first save.
