Flaherty tosses 4 innings, Plummer ties record in 6-5 Cardinals loss to Drillers

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Rehabbing St. Louis Cardinals righty Jack Flaherty tossed 4.0 innings in a rehab start and Nick Plummer tied Tommy Edman's club record 32-game on-base streak in a 6-5 Springfield Cardinals loss to the Tulsa Drillers in front of 5,176 fans on Friday night at Hammons Field.

Flaherty allowed two earned runs on three hits, striking out three without walking a batter.

Plummer singled, doubled and homered as a part of a 3-for-4 night, scoring twice and driving in a run. Cardinals catcher Ivan Herrera gave Springfield a 2-1 lead with a first inning home run, scoring Plummer. Plummer's homer came in the sixth, tying the game 3-3.

The Cardinals went up 5-3 in the sixth off a Justin Toerner ground-rule RBI double and a Julio Rodriguez RBI single. Tulsa scored three in the top of the ninth. Dalton Roach took over for Flaherty, pitching into the ninth. Roach threw 4.2 innings, allowing three runs on five hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
