KISSIMMEE, FLA.: The Clearwater Threshers came from two runs back to capture game one of a double header, 3-2, in nine innings before the Florida Fire Frogs answered with their 13th shutout victory of the season, 6-0, to win the series on Thursday afternoon at Osceola County Stadium.

Game 1: The Fire Frogs poured across two unearned runs in the second. Logan Brown began the frame with a single against RHP Kyle Arjona. Jordan Rodgers reached on a throwing error to place two in scoring position. Garrison Schwartz plated Brown with a sacrifice liner. Andrew Moritz drove a two-out run-scoring base hit, putting Florida ahead 2-0.
Arjona didn't factor in the decision, permitting four hits and no earned runs in four innings of work.
Matthew Kroon doubled in the fifth for the Threshers and would score on a Rafael Marchan knock to cut the deficit in half, 2-1. Marchan went 2-4, recording his first Advanced-A multi-hit effort.
That was the only tally RHP Brooks Wilson would allow in his start, tossing five strong innings of five-hit baseball while working around three walks and mixing in three punch outs.
Another leadoff double hurt RHP Caleb Dirks in the seventh, as Luke Miller got aboard and scored on a fielder's choice grounder hit by Daniel Brito to even the game, 2-2.
Dirks surrendered his first run of the season along with two hits over six outs.
The Fire Frogs loaded the bases with one-out but couldn't score in the eighth, permitting Dalton Guthrie to come through in the ninth versus RHP Daysbel Hernandez with an RBI single to plate Simon Muzziotti for the 3-2 Threshers edge.
Hernandez (5-2) was saddled with the defeat, allowing just one hit and an unearned run across two stanzas.
Muzziotti had three hits, one of them a double in four at-bats.
LHP Zach Warren and RHP Tyler Carr (3-1) tossed two scoreless innings each to keep Clearwater in the game. RHP Austin Ross earned his fourth save by spinning a scoreless ninth.
The Fire Frogs staff benefitted from three Clearwater double plays to minimize the damage.

Game 2: A trio of Fire Frogs hurlers combined to toss the club's fourth shutout in the last five meetings with the Threshers and second of this series. RHP Walter Borkovich got the ball and yielded just a single hit with three strikeouts over the first three innings. RHP Troy Bacon (4-3) fired the next three and worked around two hits and a walk to secure the winning end of the decision. RHP Lukas Young chipped in a perfect seventh to finish off the game.
The Threshers left three men on base and a runner didn't achieve second base over the duration of the contest. One of their knocks was an infield single by Nick Matera in the third.
A one-out double from Riley Delgado started the Fire Frogs offense in the first. He moved to third on a single from Kevin Josephina and came home on a sacrifice fly from Jefrey Ramos to open the scoring, 1-0.
Josephina tripled ahead of Ramos in the third, who delivered with the first of two-consecutive run-producing base hits for a 2-0 Fire Frogs lead.
Moritz slammed a double off RHP Andrew Brown to open the fifth. A Josephina three-bagger enabled Moritz to touch up. Then came another Ramos knock to balloon the Fire Frogs margin to 4-0.
Moritz grabbed hits in both games, moving his FSL-best home hitting streak to 10 straight. Josephina became the second player to record two triples in a game this season, joining Ramos who had two as well on June 3. Ramos added two hits for the Frogs.
Brown (2-6) took the loss, giving up seven hits, four earned runs, two walks, and collecting five Ks in five innings of work.
RHP Oscar Marcelino walked three and surrendered one hit, an RBI single to Moritz, in the sixth. Josephina's sacrifice fly brought in Brett Langhorne to round out the scoring, 6-0 Florida.
NEXT UP: The Fire Frogs hit the road to begin a six-game road trip with three games in Jupiter. The series kicks off Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. The starting pitchers are to be determined.
