Moosic, PA (August 27, 2017) - The Syracuse Chiefs defeated the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 9-2, on Sunday afternoon at PNC Field. The Chiefs scored six runs in the top of the fifth inning and matched a season-high with four home runs in the victory. Jacob Turner was strong for Syracuse, pitching seven innings of two-run ball.

Brandon Snyder was instrumental for the Chiefs in the win. He blasted two home runs, one in the fifth and the other in the ninth. He finished the road trip with five home runs, including multi-homer games on Tuesday and Sunday.

Syracuse (51-83) began the fifth inning when Spencer Kieboom reached on a throwing error by third baseman Cito Culver. Michael Almanzar followed with a two-run home run off Brady Lail on a fly ball to left, his ninth of the year in the I.L. and second with the Chiefs, tying the game at two.

Chad Huffman then singled on a line drive to right and moved to second on Bengie González's walk. Huffman then scored on an Irving Falu double to left, giving Syracuse a 3-2 lead. Snyder followed by pummeling a fly ball over the left-center field fence, scoring both Gonzalez and Falu and putting the Chiefs up 6-2. It was Snyder's team-leading 21st home run of the year.

The Chiefs tacked on another run in the top of the sixth thanks to Chad Huffman. With one out and a 1-2 count, Huffman hit his first home run as a Chief on a fly ball over the right-field fence for a 7-2 advantage.

Syracuse added to its total with a two-run top of the ninth. Snyder continued his strong performance with his second home run of the game. Irving Falu singled to center with one out, and Snyder followed with a blast over the left-center-field fence.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (83-50) scored its only two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning for a 2-0 lead. Ji-Man Choi smacked a double to center with one out in the inning. Billy McKinney walked, and Culver singled up the middle to score Choi. Mason Williams then slapped a ground ball up the middle to score McKinney and give the RailRiders a two-run lead.

The Chiefs return home Monday night at 6:35 p.m. to take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, as part of a season-ending eight-game homestand. Esmil Rogers is scheduled to take the hill for Syracuse. Lehigh Valley's starter has not been announced.
