The Somerset Patriots outlasted the Hartford Yard Goats 9-5 in 10 innings at Dunkin’ Park in Hartford, CT on Saturday night.
With the win, Somerset has won eight of its last 11 games to stay within 2.0 games of first-place Reading in the Northeast Division with 19 games remaining in the second half. The win moved the Patriots to 6-5 against the Yard Goats this season and 4-5 in extra innings, while giving Somerset its 13th win of the year when trailing after six innings.
After just one hit through six innings, Somerset’s offense exploded for five runs on five hits in the top of the seventh inning. In the seventh, the Patriots brought nine batters to the plate for the 23rd time this season and scored five runs in a single inning for the 15th time this season. Both were the first time the Patriots had accomplished either since scoring six runs with nine to the plate in the second inning vs. New Hampshire on August 11.
In the 10th inning, Somerset scored four runs – the most by the Patriots in an extra inning since a franchise-record six runs in the 10th inning on September 6, 2024 at Binghamton.

RHP Rory Fox (6.1 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 0 BB, 8 K) tossed a Double-A career-high eight punchouts. Through six innings, Fox allowed just one run on three hits with seven strikeouts. Fox issued two or fewer walks in his 12th consecutive outing dating back to his time with the Renegades. In that span, he’s issued 11 walks to 271 batters faced (.041 BB%).
Combining for 3.2 scoreless innings, Somerset’s bullpen has allowed two or fewer runs in 15 of its last 16 games, pitching to a 2.26 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP with 79 K to 22 BB in 59.2 IP during the stretch.
RHP Kelly Austin (1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K) posted his eighth scoreless outing in his last nine appearances. C Omar Alfonzo (1-for-4, 2B, BB, 2 R) led off Somerset’s five-run seventh inning with a double before coming around to score. Alfonzo has tallied an extra base hit in back-to-back games for the first time since being traded to the Yankees organization.
3B Coby Morales (3-for-5, 2 R) extended his on-base streak to a season-high 17 games with three singles. Morales posted his team-leading 30th multi-hit game of the season and sixth three-plus hit game of the year. During Morales’ 17-game on-base streak, he’s slashing .310/.459/.500 with 2 HR, 5 RBI and 5 XBH.
LF Jackson Castillo (1-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI, R) extended his on-base streak to a season-high 17 games. During Castillo’s 17-game on-base streak, he’s reached base in 26 of 69 plate appearances (.377 OBP)

He posted his second consecutive game with multiple RBI and 10th overall with Somerset this season. Moylan worked his seventh multi-hit game with Somerset and 19th across all levels this season.
DH Luis Durango (1-for-4, 2 RBI, R) recorded a Double-A career-high two RBI. Durango has hit safely in six straight games for the first time at Double-A.
