However, the Stone Crabs missed their chance at sweeping their first home series of the season.
In a scoreless game in the top of the second, Blue Jays (53-51, 19-16) third baseman Vladimir Guerrero reached on an infield single. Juan Kelly followed with a single to center before Connor Panas dropped a base hit into right to score Guerrero and make the score 1-0 Blue Jays. Two batters later, D.J. Davis bounced into a fielder's choice which scored Kelly to give Dunedin a 2-0 lead.
The Stone Crabs battled back in the bottom of the inning. With two outs, Fox laid down a bunt single before Nate Lowe picked up a base hit to center. Angel Moreno then reached on an error which scored Fox to make the score 2-1. Daniel Robertson followed with a double down the left field line to tie the game at two.
With the game still tied in the sixth, Guerrero walked with one out against Charlotte starter Brandon Lawson (3-4). After Lawson was removed with two outs in the inning, Panas, Jake Thomas and D.J. Davis all singled to extend the Blue Jays' lead to 4-2.
Dunedin tacked on another run in the eighth to bring the score to 5-2 before Charlotte got one back in the ninth.
