Rory Fox, Tony Rossi and Chris Veach combined to allow one hit against the Yard Goats, signaling the 12th one-hitter in franchise history, eighth nine-inning one-hitter and first one-hitter since a seven-inning one-hitter on August 21 at Hartford. The one hitter was the first nine-inning one-hitter since April 15, 2025 at Altoona.
The shutout win was Somerset’s seventh this season and first since Game 2 on August 21 at Hartford. It was Somerset’s first nine-inning shutout win since June 10 vs. Binghamton.
Somerset moved to 9-6 against the Yard Goats this season, including a 5-4 record at TD Bank Ballpark.
Somerset’s offense totaled 13 hits, racking up double-digit hits for the third time in the last four games. Somerset has won eight of its last nine games when recording 10-plus hits.
With Josh Moylan’s homer in the seventh inning, Somerset’s 187 home runs rank second in Double-A and are tied for 10th in MiLB at the time of the game’s conclusion. In September, Somerset advanced to 5-0 in games with a homer compared to 0-4 in games without a home run.

RHP Rory Fox (7.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K) tossed his second consecutive quality start in a career-high 7.2 IP. Fox’s outing was tied for the fourth-longest by a Patriot in the team’s Double-A history and longest since Bailey Dees worked 7.2 IP on May 30, 2024 vs. Bowie. Fox allowed a career-best one hit on a single to Braylen Wimmer in the second inning, joining Trystan Vrieling as the only two pitchers in Somerset’s Double-A history to toss seven-plus innings with one or fewer hit allowed.
Throwing 63 of his 89 pitches for strikes, Fox worked at least five innings for his seventh straight outing. Across his last three outings, Fox has posted a 1.89 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and .172 BAA with 17 K to 6 BB in 19.0 IP. With Gladney’s stolen base in the second inning, he picked up his 20th SB of the season, before swiping second base in the fourth inning for his 21st SB of the year. With 23 HR and 21 SB, Gladney joins Coby Morales as the second Patriot this season to record 20 homers and 20 stolen bases and third Patriot all-time to record a 20/20 season with Somerset (Oswaldo Cabrera - 2023 – 24 HR, 20 SB).
