Arkansas Travelers outfielder Jake Fraley has been selected as the Uncle Ray's Texas League Player of the Month for May. Fraley played in 26 games during the month, putting up a slash line of .371/.440/.639 with eight doubles, six homers, 19 runs scored, 26 runs batted in and six stolen bases. He led the league in batting average, hits and RBIs for the month while ranking second in on-base and slugging percentage. He is the first Trav to receive a monthly award since outfielder Braden Bishop in June of 2018.
Fraley was acquired by the Mariners organization this past November in a trade from Tampa Bay. Overall this season he is hitting .337/.405/.563 with 14 doubles, two triples, nine homers, 41 runs batted in and 14 stolen bases. He ranks among the league leaders in nearly every category while pacing the circuit in batting average, slugging percentage and hits (67). Fraley was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2nd round of the 2016 draft out of LSU.
Fraley and the Travs continue their current roadtrip tonight at Northwest Arkansas. The Travs currently lead the North Division first half race by 4.5 games over Tulsa with 12 left to play. They return to Dickey-Stephens Park for a six game homestand beginning on June 11.
