FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 27, 2019) - Wander Franco's two-run home run was just enough for the Charlotte Stone Crabs to sweep the Fort Myers Miracle with a 2-1 win at Hammond Stadium Thursday.
Stone Crabs (42-34, 7-3) left-hander Shane McClanahan (2-0) took care of business on the mound, allowing just one run on three hits over a career-high seven innings.
McClanahan and Fort Myers (42-34, 3-7) starter Blayne Enlow traded zeroes until Miracle catcher Ryan Jeffers delivered a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth.
With one out in the top of the fifth, Charlotte center fielder Carl Chester singled to left. The next batter was Franco, who cranked a line drive homer over the seats in right to give the Stone Crabs a 2-1 lead.
Charlotte reliever Jack Labosky pitched the final two innings, scattering three hits to earn his third save.
Franco has now begun his High-A career with three straight multi-hit games. He started his Florida State League tenure going 7 for his first 10 with a double, homer, walk and four RBI.
With the win, the Stone Crabs clinch the season series over Fort Myers. They are now 10-6 against their division rivals with three games remaining. Charlotte's record has now reached its highest point of the season at eight games above five-hundred.
The Stone Crabs will now start a three-game series in Jupiter against the Palm Beach Cardinals. Coverage of the series opener begins at 6:15 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network.
