Franklin, Riley Named Farm Bureau Players of the Week

PEARL, MS - In partnership with Farm Bureau, the Mississippi Braves announced that outfielder Jesse Franklin V and relief pitcher Trey Riley are the Farm Bureau Player and Pitcher of the Week.
The 24-year-old Franklin reached base in all five games against Rocket City this past week. He went 6-for-19 with two home runs, three walks and four RBI. Franklin extended his on-base streak to 23 games, the longest streak by an M-Braves player this season.
Franklin is batting .241 with 13 home runs, 11 doubles and 38 RBI. The outfielder returned from Tommy John surgery on May 6 after missing more than a year of action.
Atlanta drafted Franklin in the third round (97th overall) in the 2020 MLB Draft from the University of Michigan. Franklin is a native of Seattle, Washington.
The 25-year-old Riley tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings in two relief appearances against the Trash Pandas. In game two of Friday’s doubleheader, Riley allowed just one baserunner in 1 2/3 innings and recorded his second save of the season.
Riley is 2-1 with a 4.10 ERA in 37 1/3 innings this season. He has 44 strikeouts to 29 walks. The right-hander has not allowed an earned run in his last seven relief appearances over 8 1/3 innings. He has nine strikeouts over that span.
Atlanta drafted Riley in the fifth round (142nd overall) in the 2018 MLB Draft from John A. Logan Community College in Illinois. Riley is a native of Edwardsville, Illinois.
