BILOXI, MS - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced that Biloxi Shuckers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta has been named the Pitcher of the Month in the organization for the month of August.
Peralta, 21, finished August with just one earned run allowed and 33 strikeouts in 22.1 innings (0.40 ERA), dropping his ERA to 2.03 over his 12 outings (10 starts) with Biloxi since being promoted from High-A Carolina in June. Opponents batted just .109 (8-for-76) against Peralta in August.

Peralta tied the Shuckers team record with 12 strikeouts over six shutout innings on August 28 while earning his first victory since July 2. Peralta allowed just two hits and one walk as Biloxi beat first-place Jacksonville, 7-1, to keep postseason hopes alive. He finished the season going 3-8 with a 2.63 ERA (120ip, 35er) with 62 walks and 169 strikeouts in 25 games (19 starts) between Carolina and Biloxi. Peralta led all of Minor League Baseball by holding the opposition to a .178 batting average, 13 points lower than the second place pitcher. He also led the organization and is seventh in all of Minor League Baseball with 169 strikeouts.

While with the Shuckers, Peralta struck out an astounding 34.6% of opposing batters and held them to a .167 overall batting average.
Peralta joins Jorge López (April) Corbin Burnes (June) and Aaron Wilkerson (July) as previous 2017 recipients of the Pitcher of the Month award within the organization. The Shuckers led the Southern League with a 2.73 ERA during the final full month of the season.
The Shuckers finished the season with a 71-66 record in 137 games, securing the second-best overall record in the South Division. The franchise has finished above the .500 mark in all three seasons since moving to Biloxi in 2015.
