The Texas Collegiate League directors have announced details on how the league will handle the games involving the Frisco franchise that were cancelled, and the plan for the RoughRiders to resume play in the league. Because of COVID issues, the RoughRiders have been forced to cancel three series this season.

The TCL announced today that Frisco will return to play on Wednesday, July 22 by hosting the Tulsa Drillers at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The original schedule called for a three-game series between the two teams, but the series has now been reduced to just two games.

The opener on Wednesday will begin at 4:00 p.m. Game two on Thursday, July 23 will also be played in the afternoon with start at 3:00 p.m. The game originally scheduled to be played tonight, July 21, has been cancelled and will not be made up. Fans will not be allowed into either game in Frisco.

The TCL has determined, for the fairness of all teams in the league, that Frisco’s opponent in the three cancelled series will each be awarded two wins and one loss. The two teams involved are the Amarillo Sod Squad and the Brazos Valley Bombers. The Sod Squad had a pair three-game series with Frisco cancelled and has been given a 4-2 record for the six missed games. The Bombers were given a 2-1 mark for their missed three-game series.

Frisco was given a 3-6 record in the nine missed games.

The added results have set up for an interesting final two weeks of the season for the North Division. With the changes, the Drillers are now in a three-way tie with the two Amarillo teams for first place in the North with identical 11-7 records.

The Drillers have 11 games remaining in the regular season, while both Amarillo teams have 12 games left. Six of Tulsa’s 11 games will be head-to-head matchups in Amarillo, with three games against both the Sod Squad and the Sod Dogs.

The final games of the regular season are scheduled for Sunday, August 2. The top two teams in each TCL division will qualify for the playoffs and will meet in a best-of-three first round matchup. The North Division winner will then face the South Division winner in a one game championship to determine 2020 TCL Champion.
