Everett, WA - Everett gained sole possession of first place in the Northwest League North Division Sunday afternoon, by coming out on top of a back-and-forth game against Salem-Keizer.

The Volcanoes wasted little time getting on the board, as they jumped out to a one-run lead in the first inning. AquaSox starter, Jheyson Caraballo's second pitch of the evening resulted in a triple off the bat of Jose Layer. Layer would score on a sacrifice fly on the next at-bat, giving the Volcanoes their first lead of the game.
Salem-Keizer didn't let up in the second inning either. Kyle McPherson picked up a two-out triple adding a run to the lead. After a wild pitch scored another Volcano, Joey Bart doubled to left field, accounting for the fourth Salem-Keizer run.
Down four runs in the second inning, a win for the Frogs appeared unlikely. Charlie McConnell and Ryan Garcia broke open the game, however, both hitting home runs in the third inning. McConnell unleashed on the sixth pitch he saw, putting one over the right-field fence to narrow the deficit to three. Garcia smashed a two-run home run over the fence in right-center field to pull Everett within one run.
In the fourth inning, a pair of singles from Cash Gladfelter and Connor Kopach would set up the equalizing single from Ryan Ramiz. The next at-bat brought a Josh Stowers go-ahead single, scoring Kopach, 5-4 Frogs.
The Volcanoes bounced right back in the sixth and seventh innings, scoring a run in each, and regaining the lead.
The seventh inning brought the game-winning home run came off the bat of Nick Rodriguez, who lifted a 1-0 pitch to right-center field giving the AquaSox a one-run lead. That would be enough for closer Nolan Hoffman to get the save, who made his Everett debut Sunday afternoon. The game would end 7-6 AquaSox.
