G2: Hawks drop game two against Spokane 3-2

Spokane, WA: The Boise Hawks blown lead in the 6th inning turned out to be the deciding factor in a 3-2 loss to the Spokane Indians in game two out of five in the opening series of 2017.
The Hawks were forced to play comeback baseball for the entire game as whenever they scored, Spokane had an answer in the bottom of the inning. The 6th inning featured home runs by both teams as Avery Romero homered in the top of the 6th, while Austin O'Banion answered with a solo shot of his own in the bottom half.
The O'Banion home run was the last run scored in the game. Spokane got the scoring started in the 2nd inning with a Yohel Pozo RBI-single. Boise answered with one run in the fourth but surrendered the lead to the Indians again in the bottom of the inning.
Boise's starter Rico Garcia matched up against Spokane starter Tyler Phillips. Garcia went 4 innings while allowing four hits and two runs, while striking out three batters. Phillips pitched 5.1 innings and allowed seven hits. Boise struggled to score with runners in scoring position as they only managed two runs out of the seven hits they had off Phillips.
Boise was just 1-11 batting with runners in scoring position.
Spokane's bullpen took it the rest of the way after Phillips' departure. Joe Barlow and Ronny Carvajal combined to pitch 3.2 innings in relief and did not allow a run. The winning pitcher was Barlow while taking the loss was Kyle Cedotal, who allowed the O'Banion solo home run.
6,678 fans packed Avista Stadium on Saturday night for the game. The ballpark is expected to have a large draw as well tomorrow for Father's Day. The Hawks and Indians will play a doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m. PT to make up for Thursday's game that was postponed due to rain.
