Game 16 - Boise Pitchers Dominate, Hawks Win 6-2

Hawks pitching staff combines for 16 strikeouts on way to winning the second game of the series over Tri-City

The Boise Hawks (8-8) got 16 strikeouts from their pitching staff to win the second game of the series against the Tri-City Dust Devils (8-8) on Saturday night by a final score of 6-2. Danny Edgeworth posted his second three hit game in a row and added two RBI's. Boise scored

The Boise Hawks (8-8) got 16 strikeouts from their pitching staff to win the second game of the series against the Tri-City Dust Devils (8-8) on Saturday night by a final score of 6-2. Danny Edgeworth posted his second three hit game in a row and added two RBI's.
 
Boise scored in the first inning for the fourth straight game. The Hawks got Cade Harris to walk, and with two outs, Danny Edgeworth came up with a single to score Harris making it 1-0. It was Edgeworth's 14th RBI of the year.
 
Tri-City got a run of their own in the bottom of the first. Owen Miller and Blake Hunt singled, and with men on first and third, Tri-City got an RBI single from Dwayna Williams-Sutton tying the score at one.
 
The Hawks got another Danny Edgeworth RBI single scoring Cade Harris in the third making it a 2-1 Boise lead. Edgeworth then would score from third on a wild pitch later in the frame to make it 3-1 Boise.
 
Tri-City responded in the home half of the third by scoring a run on an RBI single by Justin Paulsen off Boise starter Pearson McMahan making the score 3-2 Boise.
 
The Hawks got another run in the 6th when Luis Castro singled after a double by Danny Edgeworth. Boise led 4-2.
 
Edgeworth finished the night 3-4 with two RBI's and two runs scored.
 
Boise got two more runs in the 9th inning on an Aubrey McCarty two RBI single making it 6-2 Hawks.
 
The story of the night was the Boise Hawks bullpen. After Pearson McMahan went three innings allowing two earned runs and striking out four to start the game, four Boise pitchers threw the final six innings and struck out a combined 12 batters, a total of 16 strikeouts for the entire pitching staff.
 
It was two innings for Mike Bunal, who picked up the win for Boise. Bunal struck out one. Hunter Williams then came on and struck out five of the six batters he faced over two innings. PJ Poulin, after allowing a single to Owen Miller in the 8th, came back to strikeout the next three batters.
 
It was Hayden Roberts who struck out the side in the 9th to end the game.
 
The Hawks go to 8-8 on the season and will play the third game of the series with Tri-City tomorrow at 8:15 MT.
