Barons Win 6th Straight over Lookouts in 4-2 win on Sunday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn -- The Birmingham Barons won 4-2 over the Chattanooga Lookouts before 3,772 at Erlanger Park on Sunday afternoon. With the Barons' win, Birmingham sweeps Chattanooga in the six-game series and will take the six-game winning streak against Rocket City on Tuesday at Regions Field.

Starting pitcher Lucas Gordon pitched 2.1 innings, giving up one hit, one earned run, and one walk with two strikeouts. Jake Palisch (4-9, 5.13) gets the win, going 5.2 innings, giving up three hits, one earned run, and three walks with three strikeouts. Mathias LaCombe pitched 0.1 innings, giving up a walk. Jackson Kelley gets his eighth save of the season, going 0.2 innings and getting a strikeout.

Birmingham (26-25, 52-68) scored in the top of the first inning. Caleb Bonemer reached on a throwing error. Alec Briley followed with a single to right field, scoring Bonemer. The Barons led 1-0.

In the top of the third inning. With two outs, Briley singled to left field. Anthony DePino doubled on a line drive to left field, scoring Briley, and the Barons led 2-0.

Chattanooga (15-36, 52-68) scored in the bottom of the third inning; an RBI single by Carter Graham and an RBI single by Pablo Aliendo tied the game at 2-2.

In the top of the fifth inning, Samuel Zavala walked. Campbell singled to put runners at third and first base. Bonemer singled to left field, scoring Zavala, and the Barons took the 3-2 lead. DePino singled to right field, scoring Campbell, and the Barons led 4-2.

Chattanooga loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Kelley got the last two batters, and the Barons got the 4-2 win.
