Veen Powers Spokane to 7-5 Series Opening Win

SPOKANE, Wash. – Colorado Rockies top prospect Zac Veen hit his first home run with Spokane - a no-doubt shot to dead centerfield - as the Indians rallied past the Hillsboro Hops for a 7-5 win in front of 1,422 fans and 60 dogs at Avista Stadium for Bark in the Park Night.

TOP PERFORMERS:

- Veen finished 2-for-3 with a home run, double, and walk - raising his season OPS over 200 points in the process.

- Grant Lavigne gave the Indians a 3-2 lead in the 4th inning with his two-run moonshot over the Coors Light Caboose. Spokane's first baseman also added a walk and his first stolen base of the season.

- Drew Romo went 3-for-4 to raise his season average to .366.

UNSUNG HERO:

Fineas Del Bonta-Smith was a steadying force out of the bullpen, pitching two perfect innings of relief with three strikeouts.

BY THE NUMBERS:

The two teams entered the game with a combined four home runs but went on to hit a total of six in tonight's contest.
