Rain, Hail cause suspension of Friday night's game

Game three of a four game series between Asheville and Lexington was suspended after a ferocious thunderstorm struck McCormick field in the top of the third inning. Nickel sized hail was even falling from the sky. The game will resume Saturday evening at 5:05 pm, picking up exactly where the teams left off. The game is currently scoreless with one out and no one on base for Lexington in the top of the third. The legends have two hits, both doubles, and Asheville is still in search of their first base-runner.

Chris Balcom-Miller's debut with Asheville was cut short, but Balcom-Miller looked very impressive. The two doubles were all he allowed, but he pitched out of trouble beautifully tallying three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings of work. Kent Matthes almost recorded his first hit with the Tourists on a towering fly ball in the second. The ball was caught by Legends center fielder Grant Hogue a step shy of the wall in straight away center.

Thirty minutes after the conclusion of tonight's suspended game, which will go a full nine innings, the Tourists will play the series finale in a seven inning affair. Following the doubleheader is the first of six Fireworks shows at McCormick Field. Come out to the ballpark, root on the Tourists as they try and take two from the Legends, and enjoy the best fireworks show in Western North Carolina!
