Inland Empire Strikes Back to End Losing Streak

San Bernardino, Calf.- The Inland Empire 66ers were able to end their 11-game losing streak with a come from behind victory beating the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes by the score of 6-5 in front of 3,040 fans Sunday Afternoon at Arrowhead Credit Union Park.

Inland Empire (10-27) scored the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the eight. Travis Denker's hit an RBI double of the right field wall, scoring Kyle Russell, who reached earlier on a single. Austin Gallagher followed with an RBI single, scoring Russell to give them the 6-5 lead.

On the mound for the 66ers was the right-hander JonMichael Redding who picked up the no decision. He went three innings, giving up five runs (four of which were earned) on five hits, while striking out two and walking three. Reliever Bobby Blevins (1-4) picked up his first victory of the season. He was impressive keeping Inland Empire in the game, tossing five scoreless innings, surrendering only four hits, while striking out three batters. "I was just trying to keep us in the game," Blevins said, "It feels good to finally break this losing streak and win." Matt Sartor, made his first appearance with the 66ers this season, picking up his first save, tossing a scoreless ninth.

Inland Empire (11-27) faced an early 2-0-deficit heading into the bottom of the first inning, but were able to strike back with four runs of their own. First baseman Austin Gallagher hit a 3-run bases clearing triple to put the 66ers up 3-2. Third baseman Matt Wallach capped off the inning with an RBI groundout to give them the 4-2 lead.

Rancho Cucamonga (21-17) took the lead in fourth on a costly error by 66ers' first baseman Austin Gallagher. He was trying to get the runner out at home, but over threw catcher Matt Wallach, two runs scored on the error to give the Quakes the 5-4 lead.

The 66ers will play the finale of their four-game series with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes Monday at 7:05 p.m. Also, Monday is Kids Eat Free Mondays presented by X103.9 KCXX Radio, where all kids 12 and under receive a food voucher for one hot dog, soda, and chips with admission ticket.
