Turay, Sanchez win weekly honors

July 3, 2006
Offensive Player of the Week
Alhaji Turay, St. Lucie

.556 (10-18), 7 R, 1 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 12 RBI, 3 BB, 4 SO, 4 SB, .944 SLG
Turay turned into an RBI machine this week, as he collected at least two in all five games that he played. He has driven in 12 runs over his last 18 at-bats, after it took him 150 at-bats to drive in his first 13. The 23-year-old Oregonian's recent offensive surge coincides with St. Lucie's current five-game winning streak. Those two occurrences are most certainly related to one another.

Jose Sanchez, St. Lucie

1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 1 CG, 1 SHO, 9.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO
Sanchez turned in an otherworldly performance against Jupiter on Friday, a five-hit complete-game shutout that featured four strikeouts and not a single walk. St. Lucie won the game by a score of 5-0.
