BayBears Fall League Report with Melanie Newman

Exclusive interviews & insight into the 2014 Arizona Fall League Season

MOBILE, AL - This fall, at the conclusion of the 2014 Southern League Season, six Mobile BayBears and Arizona Diamondbacks farmhands made the right of passage trip back to their parent club's Spring Training facility in Arizona.

However, the sounds from the crack of the bat and slap of the mitt wouldn't wait until March, instead baseball resumed as the Arizona Fall League season began.

Right-handed pitchers Archie Bradley, Kaleb Fleck and Jimmy Sherfy, as well as catcher Peter O'Brien, infielder Brandon Drury and outfielder Evan Marzilli were invited to represent the Dbacks in the prestigious Arizona Fall League.

The six players joined one other Diamondbacks prospect, RHP Enrique Burgos on the Salt River Rafters roster, along with other top prospects from the Houston Astros, Miami Marlins, Colorado Rockies and Minnesota Twins who made up the Rafters roster.

The season began on October 7, and ended November 15, as the six former BayBears captured the 2014 Fall League Title with their fellow Salt River Rafters teammates in a 14-7 win over Peoria.  

Melanie Newman, a reporter with the BayBears Broadcast Network made the trip out to the desert and caught up with some of the BayBears and Dbacks prospects to track their progress throughout the AFL season.

The BayBears 2015 season opens on the road April 9th at the Birmingham Barons but Hank Aaron Stadium will host the home opener versus Biloxi Baseball on April 15th.
