Chihuahuas Announce Inaugural Winter Banquet, A Night of Giving

EL PASO - November 19, 2014 - The El Paso Chihuahuas will hold an Inaugural Winter Banquet, A Night of Giving presented by Team 600 ESPN El Paso on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Centennial Banquet and Conference Center on Fort Bliss. Individual seats begin at $75 each or a table of 10 is $700.

"We are proud to bring a fun evening of winter baseball talk to the great fans in the region while helping all of the athletes that participate with the Special Olympics Texas here in El Paso," said Chihuahuas general manager Brad Taylor.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Special Olympics Texas - El Paso.   Special Olympics Texas provides year-round training and athletic competition for more than 2,000 athletes in the El Paso region in 14 different sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Marsha Baray, Special Olympics Texas development director said, "We are very pleased to be the benefactor of the El Paso Chihuahuas Inaugural Winter Banquet. Thanks to the support of the ball club and local community, we are able to continue providing quality sports programs for our Special Olympics Texas Area 19 athletes! It's a great vote of confidence in our mission."

Chihuahuas field manager, Pat Murphy and first baseman, Cody Decker will be the featured guests at the event that includes a special question and answer session. A live auction will also be a part of the festivities.

Murphy concluded his fifth season with the San Diego Padres organization in 2014, his fourth as a field manager. During his tenure, Murphy has posted a .550 winning percentage, including a 72-72 mark in the Chihuahuas' inaugural campaign. Decker hit a team-high 27 home runs, the best in the Padres organization. Originally drafted by San Diego in 2009 out of UCLA, Decker has blasted 135 homers in his career.

Season seat holders will be given the first opportunity to purchase tickets and/or a table for the event. Sales open to the general public on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014.
