Report: Kukuk arrested for role in robbery
Red Sox left-handed pitching prospect Cody Kukuk was arrested Monday in California for his alleged role in a home-invasion robbery, according to a report by the Lawrence (Kansas) Journal-World.
Lawrence police allege that Kukuk, along with three other men, broke into a local apartment "with handguns, battered residents and took their belongings," the report says. Among the belongings taken are believed to be two cellphones, an Xbox 360, cash and items from a safe in the apartment.
The 21-year-old hurler went 7-7 with a 4.47 ERA, 116 strikeouts and 83 walks over 102 2/3 innings between Class A Greenville and Class A Advanced Salem this summer. He had been considered among the top 20 prospects in the Red Sox system entering the 2014 season but dropped out of the ranks due to continued control problems over the summer.
Kukuk had another run-in with the law back in 2012 when he was arrested on DUI charges, although they were later dropped.
