Garko, Bisons slug Sox

Ryan Garko clouted two home runs to back a solid start by Rob Bell as Buffalo beat visiting Pawtucket, 6-2, on Friday night.

Garko provided the first and last runs for the Bisons (46-43), connecting on solo blasts in the first and eighth innings. He also delivered an RBI single in the third, plating Ben Francisco, who had led off with a double to extend his International League-best hitting streak to 23 games.

Garko finished 3-for-5, while Francisco went 1-for-4. Jonathan Van Every was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run scored.

Bell (6-7) limited the Red Sox (41-45) to two runs on six hits over six innings. He walked three and struck out three. Andrew Brown worked two scoreless frames and Ben Howard tossed a perfect ninth.

Kason Gabbard (0-3) suffered the loss, giving up five runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings. He walked two and fanned four.

The Red Sox went 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Dustin Pedroia was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. -- Zack Hample/MLB.com
