Volcanoes Welcome Santa to Keizer Station

Hundreds gather inside Volcanoes Stadium Parking Lot
December 6, 2014

The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes invited the community to welcome Santa Claus, who arrived via helicopter, to Volcanoes Stadium on Saturday, December 6.

The line started forming to greet Santa as early as 11 a.m. that morning. The festivities started as soon as Crater made an appearance as he high-fived children and brought smiles to all. The annual event officially began at noon, when a long line of 300 people greeted Santa. Once he landed, Santa asked every child what they would like for Christmas as they sat upon his lap inside the Volcanoes' Team Store.

"It just brings excitement for the kids so they can see Santa land by helicopter and they're really excited to see that," Janelle McLaughlin said, a mother who brought her children to the event for the first time.

The event brought families together to enjoy an otherwise typical Saturday morning. "Tis the season. For me, Santa means children, kids and family," Paul Ritchey said. Ritchey and his family were in line early for the event.

This event marks the beginning of many opportunities the Volcanoes will have to share the joy of the Holidays with the community. "We were so pleased to be able to connect with the community and share in their special times during the 2014 Holiday season, and to be a part of bringing joy to families who have continually supported us", Chase Connor said, Volcanoes Account Executive said.

The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes are a Short-Season Class A Affiliate of the 2014 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants.
