Cloyd, Kluber highlight the #ClipShow

2014 saw a lot of highlights for the Columbus Clippers on the field and that translated to a highlight-filled year on Twitter. Let's take a look back at the ten most retweeted tweets from the Columbus Clippers Official Twitter account (@CLBClippers).

10 and 9.) #VoteKluber: The All-Star Final Vote Campaign took over the timelines of Indians and Clippers fans alike, as they rallied to put Corey Kluber in the All-Star Game.

 

 

8.) From #VoteKluber to #CyKluber: Clippers fans celebrated after Corey Kluber tossed eight scoreless frames in his final start of the year to finish off a Cy Young Award-winning season.

 

7.) Lindor arrives in Columbus: On July 21st, Twitter exploded when we learned Indians' top prospect Francisco Lindor would be promoted to Columbus (hat-tip to our friends in Akron for breaking the news). Lindor hit for a .273 average in 38 games for the Clippers in 2014.

 

6.) #ClipShowNoNo: Tyler Cloyd threw the first no-hitter in Huntington Park history on July 30th in front of 10,100 fans, garnering him national attention. Only a 9th inning hit-by-pitch kept him from a perfect game.

 

5.) International League West Division Champions: On August 26th, the Clippers clinched the International League West Division Championship with a 3-1 win in Toledo.

 

4.) #VoteKluber: The Final Push: The final day of the #VoteKluber All-Star Vote Campaign was a frantic one. Right before the buzzer at 4:00 PM, Clippers fans kicked in 150 extra votes for the Indians ace via retweets.

 

3.) #CyKluber 2.0: #CyKluber has appeared for the second time in our countdown. We surveyed the crowd asking who would win the Cy Young Award and the results were unanimous.

 

2.) #FarewellCaptain: Clippers fans took to Twitter to congratulate the former Columbus shortstop on an outstanding career. Derek Jeter played his final game at Yankee Stadium on September 25th and finished it in walk-off fashion.

 

1.) Tyler Cloyd's final out: After Tyler Cloyd began the 9th inning with a hit-by-pitch, ending his bid for a perfect game, the tension at Huntington Park was palpable. A soft liner finished it and leaves us with the #1 moment of the season:
