The 27-year-old left-hander tossed his second complete game of the season and lowered his ERA to 3.49 in 16 starts for the Barons (48-42). He has struck out 60 and walked 34 in 95 1/3 innings.
Mike Lieberthal, Danny Sandoval and Bobby Scales all ripped RBI doubles and Jim Rushford cranked a two-run double in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's five-run first inning. Scales singled in another run in the eighth to ice the game.
Lieberthal and Michael Bourn both notched three of the Red Barons' 14 hits. Lieberthal went 4-for-6 in a two-game rehab stint with the Red Barons.
The win cut Rochester's lead to three games over the second-place Red Barons in the International League North Division.
Boof Bonser (3-3) picked up the loss for Rochester (51-39) allowing five runs on 10 hits over seven innings. He struck out five without walking a batter. Henry Bonilla gave up a run in the eighth. -- Max Lance/MLB.com
