G-Braves Announce 2015 Coaching Staff
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - The Gwinnett Braves, in conjunction with the Atlanta Braves, have announced their coaching staff for the 2015 season. Manager Brian Snitker, pitching coach Marty Reed and trainer Mike Graus all return to the club, while hitting coach John Moses joins the G-Braves from Double-A Mississippi.
Snitker, 59, enters his second season as the Gwinnett manager in 2015. Following seven seasons as the third base coach for the Atlanta Braves from 2007 to 2013, he was named the third manager in G-Braves' history on October 14, 2013. Snitker guided Gwinnett to a 65-77 record and a second place finish in the International League South Division in 2014, the club's best season since 2011.
The 2015 campaign will be Snitker's 39th with the Atlanta Braves organization dating back to 1977. In 18 seasons as a minor league manager, he has compiled a 1,205-1,222 (.496) record. Snitker has led teams to two league championships (Advanced-A Myrtle Beach in 1999 and 2000) and has earned two Manager of the Year awards (Carolina League, 1999 and 2000).
Reed, 53, enters his fifth season as Gwinnett's pitching coach, his seventh season overall in the Atlanta Braves organization. His 2014 G-Braves pitching staff finished eighth in the International League in strikeouts (1,064) and 10th in ERA (4.34). Since joining the Triple-A club in 2011, Reed has contributed to the development of numerous current Atlanta Braves pitchers, including David Hale, Mike Minor and Julio Teheran.
Moses, 57, joins Gwinnett as the club's hitting coach in 2015. He enters his third season with the Atlanta Braves organization, having served as the hitting coach for Advanced-A Lynchburg in 2013 and Double-A Mississippi in 2014. His 30-plus year baseball career includes 11 seasons as a Major League outfielder with the Seattle Mariners (1982-87, 1992), Minnesota Twins (1988-90) and Detroit Tigers (1991). Moses has also served as the Major League bench coach for the Cincinnati Reds (2005) and first base coach for the Reds (2006) and Mariners (2000-03, 2007). He replaces Garey Ingram, who has been named the hitting coach at Double-A Mississippi following one season with Gwinnett.
Graus returns for his 23rd season with the Atlanta Braves organization, his 10th as the Triple-A athletic trainer and his seventh with Gwinnett. He also serves as the Braves' Minor League Head Athletic Trainer.
The Gwinnett Braves begin the 2015 season at Coolray Field on Thursday, April 9 with a 7:05 PM game against the Durham Bulls. Season Ticket Packages for 2015 are on sale now by calling the Coolray Field Ticket Office at (678) 277-0340.
