Ingle comes back to Rome as manager
The 2014 Rome Braves field staff has been announced and Randy Ingle returns as the team's manager. Ingle, in his 24th season as a manager, was in Danville last season after skippering the Rome club for five seasons from 2006 - 2010 and again in 2012 and 2013.
Prior to coming to Rome in 2006, Ingle managed the Myrtle Beach Pelicans for four seasons, managed in Macon for one year (2001) and in Richmond for two years (1999-2000). Ingle has twice been named the organization's Manager of the Year (1996, 1997) as well as the recipient of the Bobby Cox Manager of the Year Award in 2011.
"His roots in this organization and love for the players are what makes Randy so great," said Braves assistant director of player development Jonathan Schuerholz. "Players always get better under his leadership."
Ingle was inducted into the South Atlantic League Hall of Fame in 2013.
"We welcome Randy back to Rome as our manager," said Rome general manager Michael Dunn. "Randy is a veteran and we look forward to a great season with him at the helm along with Gabe, Kyle, and Bobby."
Joining Ingle is pitching coach Gabe Luckert who returns to Rome for his second season. Luckert has coached in Danville and spent several seasons in the Gulf Coast League. Bobby Moore returns as hitting coach. Moore, has been in Rome for 10 of the past 12 seasons and spent 2011 and 2012 as hitting coach for the Lynchburg Hillcats. In his fifth season as a trainer in the organization, Kyle Damschroder returns to the Rome staff for his third consecutive season.
