Will Middlebrooks Traded to Padres
Third baseman spent previous 8 years in Red Sox organization
Former Greenville Drive and Boston Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks is on the move to San Diego, as the Padres acquired him for catcher Ryan Hanigan on Friday.
Middlebrooks has spent the previous eight seasons with the Red Sox organization after being selected in the 5th round of the 2007 Draft out of a Texas high school.
In parts of three seasons in the majors with Boston, Middlebrooks hit .237 with 34 homers and 122 RBI while winning a World Series ring in 2013.
He spent the 2009 season with the Drive and hit .265 with seven homers, 47 RBI and a .349 on-base percentage in 103 games.
