'Topes set Whoopee Cushion mark
The record shatters the old mark of 3,614 set last year by the Quad City Mallards hockey team of Moline, Ill.
In addition to the fun, the Whoopee Cushion Record attempt was designed to raise awareness for the Children's Cancer Fund of New Mexico. Children's Cancer Fund programs range from rewards for bravery and courage in fighting cancer; assisting families with utilities, gas and lodging; scholarships for children who pursue dreams of higher education; assisting families with funeral expenses when children lose their fight against cancer.
The inspiration behind this world record attempt is the fact that the whoopee cushion is a favorite toy of children who are assisted by the Children's Cancer Fund.
The record attempt was monitored by 30 independent judges and also videotaped to ensure accuracy. Once it is deemed legitimate by Guinness, the record will be entered in the latest Book of World Records, the most hallowed and respected resource for notable achievements.
